Son · Father · Mentor · Leader · Brother · Uncle · Servant
Josh dedicated his life to making sure that everyone in his life knew that they mattered.
Now it’s time to honor his legacy — and we need your help to do this together.
Your words, your photos, and your video build the Legacy Book, the tribute slideshow, song & film, and the gift for his family. Take a few quiet minutes. There are no wrong answers.

✅  How this works — about 5 gentle minutes

Do as much or as little as you feel like. Even one photo and one memory is a beautiful gift.

✨  Why we’re gathering this

Josh built the You Do Matter STEAM Team, mentored on countless Saturdays, and rode with his Alpha Phi Alpha brothers all the way back to the building of the Dr. King Memorial on the National Mall. He and Dr. Rob met in New Orleans in the days after Hurricane Katrina — and he’s been a Force for Health ever since.

Whether he was your mentor, teacher, brother, coach, or friend — your memory and your photos are bricks in the monument we’re building for him. Fill in what you can; add photos and a short video if you’re able. Thank you for showing up for him, one more time.

📷  Josh through the seasons of life

Add up to 4 photos per phase — whatever you have. Each photo is tagged to its life phase so it flows straight into the Legacy Book, slideshow & film in the right place. Add a caption or the story behind any picture. We have plenty from his later years — the gift we need most is the early ones (0–50). At the bottom you can also add accolades — newspaper clippings, trophies, awards — and any links to share.

Tip: you can pick several photos at once for a phase. Tap the × on any photo to remove it. Photos stay on your device until you submit below.

A newspaper write-up, a video, an online tribute, an obituary, an award page — paste any links, one per line.

🎥  Record a short video for Josh

Your prompt: In 1–3 minutes, tell us — “How did Josh change your path? What would you say to him if he could hear you right now?” Speak from the heart. One take is perfect.
Coach Lucy
Coach Lucy’s tip — what to say

Not sure where to start? Follow this little arc and you’ll fill 1–3 minutes easily:

  1. Say hi & your link: “Hi, I’m ___ — Josh was my ___.”
  2. One moment: share ONE specific memory, not everything.
  3. What it gave you: how did that moment change your path?
  4. To Josh, now: finish with what you’d say to him today.

A minute of heart beats ten minutes of perfect, every time. 💙

🎥 Coach’s view — get the best video possible (tap for quick setup)
  • Good light: face a window or lamp so the light is on your face — never behind you.
  • Steady camera: prop your phone or laptop on a stack of books or a stand. No hand-holding.
  • Eyes to the lens: look at the little camera dot, not at yourself on screen.
  • Quiet room: close the door and turn off the TV — we want to hear every word.
  • Frame it: head and shoulders, with a little space above your head.
  • Just begin: take a breath, smile, and talk to Josh. You’ve got this.
0:00 — aim for 1–3 min
Your video stays private until you submit. Recording happens right here in your browser.

Thank you for honoring Josh.

Your story is now part of his legacy. We may reach out if we feature it in the book, slideshow, or film. First of all, servant of all — the ripple goes on, because of people like you.
